Teacher Resources

The John Howard Prime Ministerial Library has developed a collection of accessible, curriculum-aligned Civics and Citizenship resources for students in years 9 and 10.

These resources use two key events from the Howard years—The National Firearms Agreement, and Peacekeeping in East Timor—to explore:

  • The process through which government policy is shaped and developed, including the role of Prime Minister and Cabinet (ACHCK103 – Year 9); and
  • The Australian Government’s role and responsibilities at a global level, for example provision of foreign aid, peacekeeping, participation in international organisations and the United Nations (ACHCK091 – Year 10).

Scroll down to discover.
The resources also provide teachers with a range of activities to develop students’ Civics and Citizenship skills, including analysing historical sources, developing arguments, and considering different points of view. We commend these resources to you.
